Life Without Broadband?
Software4Students discusses the issues facing broadband users today.

Our lives have changed ever since the home computer became affordable and the internet lavished us with high-speed access to email, music, movies, social networking and a whole lot more. So how would you feel if you were part of the 1% who live in rural communities who can't access broadband? Could you return to a life without Facebook, YouTube or internet forums?
Even for the other 99%, issues still remain. In the current issue of .NET magazine, Gary Marshall discusses the impact that the Government could have on our surfing habits in the future and whether any of us will do anything about it before it's too late. If erosion of rights may happen in the near future, erosion of speed has already started to hit users now. So if any of you have wondered why your broadband connection is a bit slow of late, you may wish to have a peek at this article on the online traffic jam.
As a quick tip, it's worth reminding ourselves that more and more software programs are running in the background of your PC even when you're not using them. This hogs your resources such as RAM and should be turned off so that they are only in use when you want them to run. A Google search for Vista Speed Tweaks should help you if you are not sure about doing this yourself using Control Panel > Admin Tools > System Config > Start-up Tab.
Spyware, Malware and Viruses will also cause you problems so if you're in need of new Anti-virus software, Software4Students has now teamed up with Kaspersky to give you amazing value offers which will keep your PC safe and secure.
If you have any broadband access issues, speed issues or concerns over Big Brother monitoring your every move online, feel free to leave a comment below and join in the debate. What's your opinion? |
