Livescribe Echo Smartpen

Pay Attention in Class

Have you ever come out of a lecture having spent the entire time writing notes down but very little time actually listening to what was being said?

A lot of classes tend to be like this and we end up taking down notes from a PowerPoint presentation without even understanding what is being discussed. This is incredibly frustrating when, on the eve of a big exam or when you only have hours left to cram in that last assignment, you go back through your scribbles and realise that it may as well be in a different language.

What would solve this problem? Well, I'm glad you asked. The Livescribe Echo Smartpen is an incredibly neat way of keeping track of your notes.

The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

Acting much like a regular pen, you can write as normal but it also boasts a cool device that records everything that you simultaneously hear as well.

You can capture words, diagrams, scribbles and symbols and also link your notes to the audio so that you can later play back only the audio that is relevant to those notes.

This means that, in a lecture or tutorial, you can easily take down notes and record what the professor is saying so that later on you have the ability to listen back to the exact explanation that was given in class.

By placing the pen on the pad, it will automatically sync up to replay what was recorded on that occasion – information that can easily be uploaded to a PC or Mac. There are cool apps that can be downloaded, for example one that allows your pen to control your computer's cursor when connected by cable.

You can also play a mini-piano by drawing one on the notepad, which is pretty random but fun, while a calculator and translator are also handy features, especially for a student.

Relive and Connect with Friends

However, the main attraction is of course the ability to link audio with note-taking quite literally at the touch of a pen.

When connected to the computer, all the information will be uploaded to Livescribe Desktop where you can relive what you wrote down earlier on that day via digital text.

As well as this, the search engine allows you to seek any particular word or phrase so that you don't waste time like you would flicking through your regular A4 pad.

The recordings can be shared via Facebook and Google Docs too, ensuring that you and your friends can all benefit from each other's interpretation – or, even more conveniently, if you missed an important class.

The Livescribe Smartpen could be the difference between an A and a B as it increases efficiency and accuracy before that big exam.
