Open University Announces UK Student Discounts With NUS Card 2009/2010.

More details for OU students.

by SoftwareGuru
29th July 2009

Many of our customers here at Software4Students are also Open University students. Studying from home and at your own pace certainly has its advantages.

Your future career can be whatever you want it to be and you can manage your present day finances without freefalling into student debt.

If you are leaving school this year or on the lookout for a new challenge, Open University courses are definitely worth considering. Education is not a one-size-fits-all-experience and it's important that we recognise that.

People have different strengths, abilities and skills which develop at various speeds. Embracing what makes us different can lead us onto our own unique path.

The digital era is changing the rulebook about careers.

We can study or work from home. The switch from manufacturing jobs to online services will change how people view retirement.

No search engine has yet to replicate the wisdom that our elders possess and we have yet to reach a generation of grandparents who grew up in a true digital era. In that respect, we are all students.

One Card, A Whole Lot Of Savings!

The latest news from the OU Students Association concerns the NUS card and what entitlements it provides.

"From 5th August, the new NUS Card 2009/2010 ‘Demand Extra’ will be available."

"Still only £10 for a year’s subscription, and with access to more and more fantastic deals for the coming year which is great news for OUSA members. And for an extra £1 you can benefit from the addition of the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) as part of the NUS Card."

"The ISIC gives access to discounts in the UK as well as over 100 countries around the world. It also provides excellent savings on travel including international flights. This is a card already valued by the student population at large and a must have for travellers."

From these details it certainly appears to be tremendous value for money.

Even for mature students for whom the student identity is not something they are keen on, the NUS card can be quite the money saver both online and in shops.

In the current economic climate, any opportunity to make significant savings over the course of a year should be encouraged.
