Anyone Can Play Guitar
The explosion in popularity of rock music videos games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band has ignited the passion and imagination of the next generation of young guitar players. More so, arguably, than any of the new acts emerging from the UK.
Encourage Creativity
This creativity should be encouraged and with the help of fun, educational guitar software you can take the step from talking about learning guitar to actually doing it!
Software4Students and music software
From experience, I would say that asking questions in a guitar shop about software is probably a bit like asking us about guitars.
Sure, we know a bit about them (I recently bought a Fender American Vintage ‘62 Jaguar which I'm in love with) but I don't think we'd be the right people to ask about buying instruments.
However, if you're buying music software from us you're dealing with a company who know their stuff. After all, we deal with different types of software every day, constantly evaluating new products for consideration, and we are only one email or call away from helping you with any problems that you may encounter.
At Your Own Pace
Buying Progression guitar software online means you can browse all our audio recording software information at your own pace, safe in the knowledge that as a family budget software store we will give you the cheapest price available and guarantee to deliver the goods.
Reviewing Progression Guitar Software
So why choose Progression Guitar Software?
I set out to review Notion Music's Progression with my home pc (Alienware rig running Vista Ultimate, 4GB RAM, AMD 2.6 duo-core), an Audio Interface using FireWire (Yamaha GO46) and my Fender Jaguar. I've been involved in the music industry for a few years so I don't mind spending money on audio recording software and hardware related stuff.
The benefits of using Progression guitar software quickly became apparent to me. While my set-up worked great, it's even more suited for those on a budget or with limited space.
You could easily get awesome quality and sounds using this super cheap setup:
- a cheap laptop or desktop with 1GB of RAM, XP / Vista / or a Mac operating system, 2 GB free hard drive space
- computer guitar lead (around £10 if bought online), called a 1/4" Jack to 1/8" Mini-jack lead
- any type of beginner's electric guitar (bargain hunters can try eBay)
Previously, I've been using either Sony's Acid Pro program or Audacity to experiment with audio recording and editing so I was looking forward to trying out new software. Before trying out Progression guitar software I installed the Cubase LE music software dvd that came with the Yamaha Audio Interface.
If you ask a sound engineer about music software most will recommend either Cubase or Ableton live. They're both very clever apps but some people will find them very difficult starting out. Depends on your level of audio and software knowledge.
Sure enough, within 10 minutes of installing Cubase I was already thinking "mmm...this will take awhile to get the hang of". On reflection it's the equivalent of trying to swim across the English Channel before doing lengths at your local pool. For beginners it's a bit much.
FREE Amp Emulation Software
In comparison, Progression installed quickly and is much more user-friendly and intuitive. As soon as you install, a message appears:
"AmpliTube 2 DUO will install with the setup of PROGRESSION 1.1 for new customers and existing customers are entitled to a free copy"
Basically, you're being asked if you'd like to download Notion's FREE amp emulation software program...yes please!
The overall value for money factor here is immense. I honestly do not know of any other program that gives you as much bang for you buck. Or pound!
Tom Morello Slaps Your Face (Almost)
When you start using Progression, the unique user interface hits you like a Tom Morello riff. Your Fretboard is on the left of the screen, notation is featured in centre, chord info is listed bottom-middle while your settings are on the right. The layout certainly draws you in rather than turns you off.
Did I mention that the software on screen looks like an amp? Very cool. You can't help but admire the design and grin as you adjust the levels using a classic fender amp volume control switch with your mouse.
Kick Out The Jams
It won't take you long to start enjoying all the features that Progression has to offer.
Play around with drum patterns and match them up to your riffs, blend amp sounds, have fun learning new chords, the possibilities are endless. Audacity has some decent features and handy editing tools but Progression is just a lot more fun and teaches you so much more along the way.
Parents should definitely consider buying Progression for anyone in their family who's a young budding guitarist or bassist.
Frankly, if you have ever thought of learning guitar (or bass) than this is definitely the right choice and gets two thumbs up from me. Looks like I'll be spending less time on Guitar Hero and a lot more time using Progression from now on!
