Strawberries and Cream
So, Wimbledon started this week, and Maria Sharapova is already knocked out. It also means that the women in my life have stopped complaining about all the football on TV and instead switched over to BBC for the tennis. I'm a fan of tennis myself, and have already lost a few pounds this week at the bookies! But you know what's worse than that? The fact that this year, for the first time in years, the price of Strawberries at SW19 has raised by more than ten percent! That's going to add a massive profit to some already huge coffers. Maybe it will mean Court No. 2 will be ready for next year though.
According to the Wimbledon Official website: "Every year about 27,000 kilos of strawberries are eaten during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, together with 7,000 litres of cream." That is a hell of a lot of strawberries, which means that the increase per punnet from £2.00 to £2.25 will net (gettit? net!) a huge income.
