Student Loan Delay Nightmare Continues
Up To 50,000 Students At Risk.
by
SoftwareGuru
Another academic year, another
epic crisis involving the Student Loans Company and delays
in the headlines.
Is there any excuse for not being able to deal with something
that you have 11 months in the year to plan for
and is your sole purpose for existing?
We are entering the first academic year since the most severe
recession ever hit the UK and yet the excuse being put forward
is that there is an "increase in late applications".
Wow...who would have seen that coming?
Apparently not the student loans company or those whose job it
is to prevent administrative disasters on a national scale.
Perhaps in a way this is a microcosm of what the future holds
for many students when they eventually graduate, that the real
world outside of student unions doesn't care about what's fair.
If freshers need any reality check other than the number of
people out of work in the UK has risen to its highest level in
14 years, the shambolic loans system could be it.

Stay informed
Despite the problems it has caused, all of the above does
provide a sharp reminder to students that it is always best to
be prepared for potential obstacles.
The financial challenge is only one of many on the road ahead.
The NUS twitter account (@nusuk) regularly offers advice on
money and funding. Latest post at time of writing was "Dealing
with the loans debacle - expert tips. Read more at
http://tinyurl.com/kl8y5o".
Money may be scarce for students but if you have access to the
internet then information is not.
You will also find student advice and useful links over at the
Software4Students Twitter account (@studentsoftware)
which is updated regularly.
Again we would draw your attention to the latest PDF
Student Finance Guide For Parents from Martin Lewis of
MoneySavingExpert.com
There really is no excuse for not getting the best student or
consumer deals around when there is a vast amount of invaluable
information out there - use it!

If you're not in, you can't win.
Time for a quick spot of shameless self promotion. As mentioned
last week, we now have a new competition where you can win £500
easily.
All you have to do is create a link to our website from your own
site, blog, social media profile etc, and then email us to let
us know.
All the details are here.
In the previous week's blog entry we even outlined a
step-by-step approach to creating a link while promoting your
own Facebook page at the same time.
And of course that £500 would be quite nice if you're currently
chewing your fingernails to bits wondering when the Student
Loans Company are going to get their act together.
The more of your friends that know about
Software4Students the more money they will save, and
they'll thank you for it.
If you do receive your student loan, you may be considering
buying a laptop or Netbook, which is why if you head over to the
Articles index you'll see the latest entry explains all about
Netbooks.
Netbooks is one of the reasons
why Windows 7 exists and is being launched in October.
